Backlash

BACKLASH is a classic thrash and heavy-metal group comprised of experienced musicians in Joliet, IL. Backlash channels a vast array of influences such as Metallica, Megadeth and Pantera in their original music and live shows as they keep pace with modern metallers like Warbringer and Power Trip.

Backlash was formed as a classic thrash band Ryan (singer / rhythm guitar player), Vaughn (lead guitar / backup vocals), Tyler (bass) and Shawn (drums). They have performed all over the Chicagoland area with numerous National acts such as the Three Tremors, Wayland, Bleed the Sky, and Skinlab. With COVID-19 collapsing the live music scene, Backlash entered the studio to produce their first LP.

The first LP, COLLOSUS was recorded at Pressure Wave Studios with producer/drummer Shawn Johnson, and was released in late spring 2021. Containing 9 original songs that traverse multiple sub-genres of metal, this record appeals to all fans of heavy music. The cover artwork was handled by renowned Brazilian artist Gustavo Sazes (Arch Enemy, Machine Head, Morbid Angel, God Forbid), and the record was mastered by Trevor Sadler of Mastermind Productions (Rush, NIN, Triumph, Peter Gabriel).

Classic thrash vocals accompanied by guttural and powerful backing vocals, diverse heavy riffs, intelligent, robust bass, and precise, percussive groove compose the staunch foundation of Backlash.
